I Don’t Get the World Today

No matter what I used to think or say,
I just don’t get the world today.
People cursing, hating you, if you are gay,
People cursing, hating you, if you’re different, barking you not to stay,
Wishing that you’d die or go away…
I just don’t get the world today,
doesn't matter what I used to say,
I just don’t get the world today.
All I see are people going about their day,
Never asking one another if they’re okay.
Where’d the love go?
I wish I knew, but I don’t know.
Did it hide or disappear?
I do believe the answer is unclear.
As nobody nowadays,
is completely sincere.
And, that is what I truly fear.
Pointless, hate, an endless struggle,
like a dog barking at it’s own shadow,
if this continues on, our future seems bleak,and dismal.
As we live our lives day by day.
Being told what to say,
Always having to obey,
Some leader, Some God, some psycho who won’t go away/
never really having any say,
Our minds are directed on, another course, different than that of yesterday.
I just don’t get the world today,
No matter what I used to say,
I just don’t get the world today.
That is all I really have to say,
I don’t wish to get the world today,
nor do I prefer the world of yesterday,
As there is a way,
To change our future, our way of thinking, someday.
But, I just don’t get the world today,
as it seems that all I can do is wish and pray.
For the day,
That I can honestly say,
I’m glad I understand the world today.
I just don’t get the world today,
As there’s no privacy no matter where we stay.
Even here in the USA,
We are spied on by the NSA,
It is for security is what they say,
As they look through the everyday.
Many secrets our leaders choose to tuck away,
do we really even have a say?
I just don’t get the world today.
But, like others I choose to back away,
out of fear, so I’ll just go on my way,
My story like other’s shall be cliche,
no chance to change, no chance to break away,
Right here in the good old USA.
I just don’t get the world today,
People curse and hate the day,
finding the smallest things to hate, to prey,
Just like the days of old, just like the KKK,
I just don’t get the world today,
suspicion and paranoia cause us to keep away,
threatening many, with the threat of hell to pay.
We smile listlessly, as we go about our day…
allowing ourselves to waste away…
I just don’t get the world today…
That is all I really have to say…
Before, I leave and go about my day...

I saw u requested a critique so here
This is a very good poem and it made me think about the world and how cruel it can be
This work of art is something many writers couldnt even think of doing
This really makes me think anout my life and how easy it is compared to others
And also why there are the bad people that cant accept things like homosexuals and other things people should be ok with
Any way good job and i hope with talent like yours you can change the world with this
